Blue Sky Cultural Connections   Playing for Change Day 2015

Playing for Change Day banner

On Playing for Change Day, Saturday, September 24, musicians and music lovers all over the world will unite to celebrate the power of music to effect positive social change. Through performances of many kinds, participants are raising funds to support music education for children who otherwise might not have the opportunity to grow through music. Last year there were over 325 events in 62 countries raising over $150,000 for arts and music education. This year's events will be happening on stages, street corners, guitar shops, and in schools, yoga studios and cafes and a national wildlife area.

In southern Saskatchewan we are hosting five Playing for Change Day events:

PFC at Regina Afrofest
Funds raised at PFC Day have gone to support four PFC music education programs in Nepal, as well as schools in Thailand, Brazil, South Africa, Ghana, Mali and Rwanda. In Saskatchewn, the PFC Foundation has developed a Local Program Partnership with Blue Sky Cultural Connections to host a series of concerts and celebrations of local musicians volunteering their time and talents in support of music and arts education. Funds raised at our events are distributed both to the international music programs and to seven arts and music education projects throughout Saskatchewan, including Kids of Note and the AIM Program in Saskatoon, North Central Kids Music and Feel the Rhythm in Regina, and Creative Kids across the province.
